Cooked In The Squat

Are you feeling stuck in a lifestyle far different from the one of your dreams?
The saying “cooked in the squat” has been around in the country for a while. It refers to making biscuits and how sometimes they don’t rise but just cook flat. Right before they rise they just bake. In life we make great plans but sometimes get cooked in the squat. We get a routine and a home base and work and then repeat daily. We then wonder what happened to the great life we planned. If you feel like you have gotten cooked in the squat, it is natural to look back and ask what went wrong. However, that is not the best way to get rising!
WHEN YOU BEGIN TO WONDER WHAT WENT WRONG IN THE PAST, CATCH YOURSELF AND TURN YOUR THINKING TOWARD WHAT BROUGHT YOU AUTHENTIC JOY IN THE PAST.
If you are going to think about the past at all, think about what made your heart sing. What made you smile? What made you giddy, happy and jumping for joy? Go on back as far as you want in your life and answer those questions. This is a good place to start to redesign the great joyous life of abundance you perhaps planned before getting cooked in the squat.
Start as far back in time as you can remember. Skip the negative stuff (we all have some) when it pops up. Just try to recall what you really loved. What people, places, animals, environments, experiences really made you happy. This exercise does not need to make sense or add up in any way with regards to who you see yourself as today. This is just a non-judgemental recall of the good stuff in your life to date.
This is a writing project. When ideas come to mind about past joy, make a list. You will use this list to write intentions for your best life. Sit, close your eyes and go back in time. When a good memory pops up, write it down. It can be a person, place, thing, an experience, sight, sound, scent, just anything that brought you real joy.
WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL GRATEFUL TODAY?
This will be the next writing project. You will think about whatever you appreciate in your life right now. What are you truly grateful for? What brings you happiness today? Add these items to your list. Nothing is too big or too small for the list. Do you love your pillow? Put it on your list. Love to travel to faraway places? On the list it goes. What makes you happy today? Maybe you have lots of dreams but what we want here is whatever you are actually doing today or whatever is in your life today that brings you great joy.
NOW LET’S WRITE THE FUTURE
Using your list of past joy and current joy we will write the story of our best life going forward.
Now that you have listed what brought you joy in the past and what brings you joy today, the last list will be whatever you THINK would bring you joy. This can be anything you can do or be or have that you feel will bring authentic happiness to you.
To make it easier to figure out what you want in your life, it will help to figure out what your true values are.
First, ask yourself how you like to spend your time. Start from right now. Start all brand new. Start with a clean slate. Think only of yourself. Be selfish for this exercise. Make sure it is true for you. Don’t try to figure out how you can make it work. Just think of what you honestly like. Here is a list of some values people have. Your values can determine how you want to spend your time, which can help you set your intentions. Some true values people have are:
Love
Family
Friends
Animals
Environment
Music
Health
Faith
Adventure
Wealth
Education
Community
Culture
Career
Free Time
Sports
Balance
Beauty
Contribution
Creativity
Humor
Growth
Fun
Learning
Peace
Pleasure
Spirituality
Status
Wisdom
Fame
Happiness
Influence
Read the list slowly and when something jumps off the page at you, write it on your list. When an item makes you smile or brings back a happy time, put it on your list, if you would like some more of it in your life. If it has always intrigued you for some reason, write it on your list. If you feel something has always escaped you, but you are still drawn to it, by all means, write it down.
Most of us don’t allow ourselves enough “free time”, but a great way to start a list of desires is to pretend you have lots of free time. Think about how you would like to spend “free time”. Remember you can always change or add to your list. Just start writing. It is important to begin.
Now that you know what is working right now in your life that you would not change except to get more of, it’s time to dream a little dream. What is it that you would like to be, to do or to have that you don’t have in your life right now?
Write down anything that comes to you that you want:
TO HAVE
TO BE
TO DO
Example of what you want to HAVE: a new house
Example of what you want to BE: a better dancer
Example of what you want to DO: Travel to Iceland
HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS TO GET YOU STARTED
Have a little fun and let your mind run wild and write whatever you feel is true for you.
What kind of day would bring you great joy?
How would your joyous day start? Details please. Write it down.
After your joyous morning, how will you spend your daylight hours?
What will you do? With whom? Where?
Write in detail. Fill in every detail as it comes to you. Go ahead and dream big and be honest with yourself…not judging yourself, just let it flow. Get it all on paper.
Where do you live?
Alone or with whom?
What is your environment like? (country, city, mountain, beach, foreign country, boat)
Now you can spend your time any way you like. What do you choose to do today?
How about the rest of the week?
This month?
This year?
Will you travel?
Where will you go?
In what vehicle?
Stay in hotels?
Camp?
Friend’s house?
Second home for you?
Who, if anyone, will accompany you.
What kind of entertainment will you have?
Music
Dance
Dine
Walk
Art
Gardens
Nature
Shopping
History
What’s on your list of things that are truly fun for you?
If you like it, put it on your list. Put anything and everything on your list, no censoring, no judging. This is private. It is just for your eyes, so get it all on there. Carry your list around all day and think about this: What do I really like?
Once you have a list of how you would like to spend your time, the thought processes you have gone through will help you with the next exercise.
LIST ALL OF THE THINGS YOU WANT TO DO.
When you created your list of “free time” desires, you listed things you would like to do.
Now you will work on things you would like to be.
Here are some suggestions to get you started in writing your life’s intentions of all that you want to be.
Read through the list and grab any that resonate with you. Feel free to make your own list without looking at my suggestions, if you prefer. The idea is to list all that you would like to be.
Start your list like this: “I am …”
Physically fit
Confident communicator
A loving partner
Financially successful
An uplifting person
Well traveled
An adventurer
Progressing spiritually
A successful entrepreneur
A contributing team player
A great musician or artist
A respected leader
A good family member
A trusted friend
Well educated
What do you want to be?
LIST ALL THAT YOU WANT TO BE.
The final exercise is to make a list of all that you want to have in your new life. The sky is the limit. List everything you want to have.
The Universe can manifest a mansion as easily as a tent, so go ahead and think big, if you want. Include houses, cars, boats, clothes, etc.
LIST ALL OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WANT TO HAVE.
Houses
Cars
Boat
Farm
Business
Clothes
Electronics
Furniture
Decorations
Recreational Vehicles
Vacation Places
Anything you would like to have.
Now you have made the decision to decide what you want to attract into your life now. You have chosen what you value most and decided what you want to have, to be and to do.
You are open to receiving ALL OF THE ABUNDANCE.
A NEW STORY FOR YOU
With all three lists as complete as you can make them, create a story on paper of your new life. Use as many of the items that made you happy in the past or make you happy now or you think would make you happy as you can. Be sure to include any feelings you will have in your new life.
For example: “I feel proud and peaceful because I have a place in the country. I live there with…
I love my work which is…
I go on vacation to…”
Once your story is written, including good feeling words, save it to read often. Your story is made up of your intentions for the future for your best life. It also gives you the good feeling words that will raise your vibrations the more you read them.
Now the Universe is cooking up a new best life for you and the Universe will never let you get cooked in the squat because you have clear intentions and you are giving off high vibrations with your good feelings.
